This page is about Bloghints: who runs it, why it exists and how the lists are put together. In short, Bloghints is a one-person site run by me, Ellys Kho, since 2006. It began as a hand-checked web directory and is now a blog with plain-English SEO guides and lists of websites for webmasters and bloggers.
Who runs the site
I am Ellys Kho, the founder and editor. I am self-taught. I never worked at an agency and I have no clients; everything I write about comes from running my own websites. I still have a lot to learn, and I do not pretend to be a polished writer. What I can offer is two decades of trying things on my own sites and being honest about what worked and what did not.
How Bloghints started
My first income online was a sponsored article on one of my blogs. I used that small amount to start a web directory, and that directory became Bloghints in 2006. Over the years I built many blogs on WordPress, tried free Blogspot blogs and ran a health website.
Around 2017 I stopped running the directory and rebuilt the site with my own template in plain HTML, PHP and CSS. Now I am moving Bloghints to a custom CMS so the guides and lists are easier to keep up to date.
Along the way I made plenty of mistakes. I chased links through forum signatures, generic blog comments and backlink generators. After Google's crackdown on link spam, I stopped all of that. Those stories appear in the guides as lessons, not advice.
How the lists are checked
What made Bloghints different from day one is that listings were verified by hand. Many lists online are copied from other lists without anyone opening the sites. Here, I work like this:
- Each site is visited before it is added, to see that it loads and does what the list says.
- Dead, parked or obviously spammy sites are left out or removed.
- Facts like prices or policies are checked on the official page, and the guide says where they came from.
Sites change, so a list can still go out of date. If you spot a broken entry, please tell me through the contact page. You can browse everything in the webmaster lists.
What Bloghints does not do
- No paid links pretending to be editorial. If a placement is paid, it is labelled as paid or featured. Google's own spam policies also say paid links should be marked as sponsored or nofollow.
- No invented experience. I do not write "we tested" or quote clients I do not have.
- No guaranteed rankings. Nobody can promise them, and neither will I.
I have tried AI tools for drafting articles and was not satisfied with what they produced on their own, so a person is responsible for what you read here.
